Traits -
▲ Machine Speech.
▲ Keen senses.
▼ Mute.

Appearance - Thaddeus stands at 5'10", and before his opium usage started to manifest in the thinness of his body, hollow eyes and the slight gauntness of his face, his was a fairly average build, although his gently hunched frame's always been more inclined toward a bookish type of work rather than anything overly physical. Upon his head is a romantic and unkempt swirl of medium brown, wavy hair kept carelessly and stylishly just too long, and parted toward the right so that it typically hangs slightly in his eyes. His delicate, somewhat effeminate lips are usually smiling; a vague, wan expression to match the pallor of his face, and his frequently bloodshot eyes are a washed-out, undistinguished blue. He hasn't been able to grow out of his fine-boned boyish face quite yet, but a little more weight loss would do the trick. He is clean-shaven out of lack of real ability to grow any substantial facial hair. Overall, there is a worn elegance about the young man, which could, perhaps, be chalked-up to all work and no play.

Personality - Astute, attentive and observant, mostly by default, Thaddeus maintains a largely mellow personality, and always has, even if it's now augmented by his drug use; he becomes perceptibly agitated, however, when it need of a fix, and becomes noticeably ansty in such circumstances, demonstrating signs such as tapping his fingers and/or playing with his hair. He's studious and a hard-working, to the point of getting lost in a project. Even if he can't express it through normal means, Thad is philosophical, naturally sharp, curious and likes to get to know people in his own way. Thanks to his upper class upbringing, he's come to enjoy the finer things in life.

History - One of the principle overruling traits that's plotted Thad's course in life is that he was born with some indeterminate physical mutism-- his larynx has been paralyzed since birth. He was born the middle child to a DaGuerrian family, and has an older brother, Merrill, who is the outright heir to the Potts's business holdings and estate, and a younger sister, Eudora, who is still in school. His talent with Machine Speech dictated that he was to attend the Royal School of Engineers, as had numerous of his forebears before him.

All would be well, save for the fact that his rakish older brother introduced him to the dubious magnificence of opium about when he was about to enter the Royal School, and the periodic dalliance eventually became a regrettable habit, especially over the last year of school. Thaddeus's innate intelligence and talents helped him to graduate, despite the burgeoning roadblock of addiction. He is currently looking for employment, and, upon the insistence of his father, Merrill Potts Sr, he is weighing his options to make the best decision possible while enjoying a post-graduation respite.

2013-06-20 [Ms. Steel]: mmm, maybe I'll go with Memory, then.

2013-06-20 [Duredhel]: Gotcha.

2013-06-30 [Ms. Steel]: So adorable, the poor strung-out dear.

2013-07-15 [Ms. Steel]: Will it be possible for Thad to possess/purchase a tablet, small chalkboard or some other portable implement with which he can communicate?

2013-07-15 [Duredhel]: Yup :O! I'm adding stuff on miscellaneous items, I'll keep those in mind.

2013-07-15 [Ms. Steel]: Coolio.

2014-01-05 [Ms. Steel]: Dur, could I give Thad 5 pts in Perception and 5 in Charisma, please?

2014-01-05 [Duredhel]: Of course :>

2014-01-05 [Ms. Steel]: Thanks!

2014-01-06 [Ms. Steel]: Exactly what does 'business attire' encompass in the world of the game?

I've been imagining Thad wearing a greatcoat, slacks, a cutaway coat, waistcoat (a vest), cravat and buttoned shirt. Business-like, even though a frock-coat would be more historically accurate, but... well, we're not going for overt historical accuracy.

I just don't want to attribute more to his attire than he actually has is all, so sorry about my trivial questions. :-)

2014-01-06 [Duredhel]: I think that works :> No worries. You guys have some freedom to decide what your char is wearing. The name Business Attire is more so I can determine the cost and in-game properties of the clothing.

2014-01-06 [Ms. Steel]: Cool! Thanks.

2014-01-09 [Ms. Steel]: s-m-r-t

2014-01-12 [Ms. Steel]: If I have read and comprehended things properly... may I use my Intelligence XP for Expert Knowledge?

And if I don't yet have a Perception Proficiency, can I still attain one?

2014-01-12 [Duredhel]: Yes on both counts :>. The perception proficiency will cost 10 XP, which you have.

What would you like Thaddeus' expert knowledge to be about?

2014-01-12 [Ms. Steel]: Great! For the Perception, I would like Cautious, and for Expert Knowledge... just for esses and gees, what benefit would knowledge in Architecture provide?

Although, I could be boring and pick Engineering again... hmm...

2014-01-12 [Duredhel]: Not much right now :> but once you get to the city or if you would like Thad to go out exploring lost cities, it could come in handy. He would be able to identify how things were built, their apparent purpose, match different construction styles to periods or cultures, that sort of thing.

2014-01-12 [Ms. Steel]: hmmm... tempting...

2014-01-12 [Duredhel]: Up to you :> you don't have to use up all your XP right away anyways.

2014-02-04 [Duredhel]: XD Zahrah's stiletto put Thaddeus close to carrying too much weight.

2014-02-04 [Figgy]: WHAT A WIMP
